Tillicum students are expected to be in a supervised activity after school if they decide to remain on campus.
Supervised activities are:
Tutorial (2:30 -3:00)
Club Bellevue (2:30 – 5:30)
Homework clubs (3:00-4:00)
Sports
Research and resources club (Library: 3:00 – 4:00)
Detention (2:35-4:00)
These activities are offered every day of the week but Wednesday (except detention, which is Tuesday/Thursday only, and Club Bellevue which is offered every day of the week).
Pick Up:
Students may take the activity bus home, or if they will be picked up at school they will be allowed to wait in front of the school for their ride at these times only:
2:30 – 2:40 (after school)
3:00 – 3:10 (after tutorial)
4:00 – 4:10 (after activities)
If you arrive at school to pick up your student at a time that is not listed above, your student will be waiting for you in a supervised activity (most likely Club Bellevue).
ASB CARDS
Tillicum A.S.B. cards are available for a cost of $5.00. The A.S.B. card allows students to receive a reduced fee at school-sponsored activities, and to participate in after-school activities. Students who participate in an after school activity must purchase an A.S.B. card. Those students who have purchased an A.S.B. card will receive an A.S.B. sticker on their Tillicum student identification card.

Attendance policies are fairly extensive, and are covered ON THIS PAGE.
BOOK BAGS
All book bags should be stored in students' lockers. Backpacks, messenger bags and any other book bags are not allowed in class. This includes the PE locker room.
CELL PHONES
Students are allowed to have personal cell phones at school under the following conditions:
• The cell phone must remain turned OFF, OUT of SIGHT and kept on their person during the school day. This includes lunchtime and passing time between classes.
• Students are strongly discouraged from bringing expensive models of cell phones (camera phones, those able to download music) to school. The only secure place for a cell phone is on the owner's person, NOT kept in lockers or backpacks.
Tillicum is not responsible for recovery of lost or stolen property.
DRESS POLICY
All students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Students wearing inappropriate attire will be referred to the office. Students dressed inappropriately will be expected to address the concern.
• Clothing should cover all undergarments.
• Clothing should neither advertise nor advocate the use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco.
Clothing with writing or pictures that are obscene or express inappropriate messages should not be worn at school. Shirts should fully cover the student's stomach and chest areas, and shorts & skirts should reach mid thigh. No spaghetti-strap tank tops are allowed. Sagging pants and bandannas are not permitted at Tillicum Middle School. Hats are not to be worn during the school day.
EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSURES
In unplanned cases when the school must be closed due to weather conditions or for other masons, announcements will be made on the area radio stations. Students, parents/guardians should refrain from calling the school in these cases. For up to date information 24-hours-a day, call the School News Line at 425.456-4111, or check the Public Schools Emergency Communications System (PSECS) internet website, www.psecs.wednet.edu and select the Bellevue School District from the King County school list.
FRIDAY FOCUS
Each Friday Tillicum publishes a one-page newsletter that includes current information and updates for the following week's schedule. The Focus is distributed to each student during 7th period on Friday, so be sure to look for it. Friday Focus is also posted on the Tillicum website, on the home page of this web site, and is included in the weekly PTA emails.
LOCKERS
Students will be assigned to a locker each year. Since the lockers are a part of the building, they are subject to inspection by school administrators. Any changes in locker assignments will be handled by the office ONLY. it is the student's responsibility to see that their locker is kept locked and in order at all times. Please report any problems concerning locks or lockers to the Main Office promptly. Students should not share their combination with any other students.
LUNCH/BREAKFAST
All students are issued a student identification number that is used as their meal code. This code is to be used when purchasing breakfast and lunch. Students may make deposits to their meal account at any time during breakfast and lunch service in the form of cash or a check from a parent.
Parents may monitor their student's meal account and make deposits to the account using VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card by using the PAYPAMS service. A per-student, $10.00 12-month subscription fee is charged by PAYPAMS. PAYFAMS can be accessed on line at www.paypams.com or by calling 1.800.994-5100.
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
If medication is to be taken while at school, written instructions from the prescribing physician and parental permission must be obtained for EACH medication. A medication authorization form is available in the main office and must be completed by a physician and returned/faxed to the school nurse. If more than one medication is to be taken, additional authorization forms can be obtained.
All medications will be kept and dispensed (as ordered by the physician) by a designated school employee. Prescription and non-prescription medication must be sent in the original pharmacy container. Nonprescription (over-the-counter) medications must be clearly labeled with the child's name, dosage, and time to be given. NO MEDICATION (prescription or non-prescription) MAY BE GIVEN W1THOUT A PHYSICIAN'S ORDER. There is to be NO sharing of medications of any kind. Sharing medication is grounds for immediate suspension.
P.E. UNIFORM
P.E. T-shirts and shorts are on sale during Taking Care of Business Days. Each item should be marked with student's last name in permanent market and is to be worn during P.E. classes. Uniforms may also be purchased in the main office during the first week of school.
REPORT CARDS
Report cards are issued four times during the school year, which are mailed home approximately one week after the last day of each quarter. Interim reports are issued four times each year at mid-quarter for students who are struggling academically. Progress reports are mailed home shortly after mid-quarter.
STUDENT SUPPLIES
The following are general supplies that all students will need in order to be prepared for classes throughout the school year. Additional specific supplies may be required for individual classes:
• 3-ring binder, Notebook paper, Dividers
• Student Planner
• Pencil pouch, Pencils, Pens, Erasers
UNNECESSARY ITEMS
The following items are not necessary at school and should not be brought to school. Items confiscated by staff members may be held in the Assistant Principal's office until the end of the year or until a parent/guardian comes to pick up the items.

• Hand held electronic games & other devices
• Cameras

• Gum

• Permanent Markers
YEARBOOKS
The Tillicum Middle School Yearbook is issued at the end of the school year. The yearbook features student pictures and highlights of activities over the school year. Student Yearbooks can be purchased from the main office through December. Please note that yearbooks of students with unpaid fines at the end of the year will be held until fines are paid.
