Fundraising
Magazine Drive
Our Magazine Drive is in full swing, and we really need your help! Sales so far have totaled approximately $6,000—far short of our goal of $30,000!, and the final turn-in date for orders is Tuesday, Oct. 21. The money we raise is used for after school activities, clubs, sports, music, yearbook and much more. Your student has already received a catalog with over 1,000 magazines and CD’s to choose from, and you can also order online – which saves us valuable time processing. Just click on the link and you can start shopping right away: http://www.qsp.com/store/SetSession.aspx? Remember, we do not encourage your student to go door-to-door selling, but instead to contact friends, family and neighbors.
Qwest’s 1% Back to Schools Program
Qwest has begun a unique and innovative program that will mean additional funding for our schools! It’s called the Qwest “1% Back to Schools” program, and it’s an easy way for Qwest customers to help make a positive difference in education. Simply put – when Qwest’s residential customers sign up for Paperless BillingandAutoPay Electronic Funds Transfer, they can direct an amount equivalent to one percent of their monthly bill to any school district within Qwest’s 14-state residential-service territory. All a customer has to do is go to qwest.com/onepercent to enroll. It’s that simple!

Answer the Call This Fall
Phonathon, our critical fall fundraiser, is more important than ever!
BSF is already funding programs that help kids in all our schools, and we need to make sure we can keep delivering those programs. Every year, volunteers call parents in our fall fundraiser, Phonathon. Due to the late start, calling dates for Phonathon have been changed, but you can contribute now. Please donate online at www.bsfdn.org/donate The BSF phonathon is set for November 10 - 13, 2008. Every gift matters.
Box Tops - Don't throw them away!

Winter weather: as we head into the stormy season in the Northwest, the possibility of school closure or a delayed start increases. We encourage you to keep abreast of the most current information by tuning in to local TV and radio stations. The school district Emergency Communications Bulletin is printed on the reverse of this newsletter, with specific information about how to find out if school is closed or delayed. Please call the school district news line directly: 425-456-4111 for up-to-date information.
Homework questions: if your student has been absent for 3 or more days, we will be happy to send a request for homework to all teachers. There is a homework pick-up box in the main office. If your student is absent for 1 or 2 days, we suggest you check teacher websites to keep up with assignments: https://grades.bsd405.org/PIV/
Pre-arranged absences: If you are planning a family trip over the holidays and your student will miss 3 or more days of school, you need to have the absence pre-approved. Please call Liza Manio in the Attendance Office at 456-6708 to obtain the form and for more information.
