The Bellevue Schools Foundation raises money for things individual schools can’t – it funds major, district-wide curriculum improvements in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Kids in every school receive a better education with the Foundation’s help. Without it, these improvements might eventually take place but perhaps not in time for our children.
Math: International Math Standards— Kindergarten - Grade 12 (K-12)
To ensure Bellevue students achieve on a level equal to their international peers, last year the district implemented a consistent set of internationally aligned K-12 mathematics standards. The standards are connected to lessons that help students achieve mastery of essential math concepts during elementary school and reach advanced math courses (Pre-Calculus/Calculus) in high school.
This year, BSF is funding the second major phase of the program: professional development (training) for teachers. Professional development ensures that teachers have the tools and skills needed to support students as they meet the demands of the new, accelerated curriculum.
The Bellevue Schools Foundation is providing the funding ($138,000) for this initiative.
