A note from our school nurse: Deciding when a child is too sick to go to school can be a difficult decision. Use these guidelines to help you:
Go to school: sniffles, runny nose, mild cough without fever.
Stay at home: temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. (students must be fever-free for 24 hours before return to school.) Sore throat, especially with fever or swollen glands. Diarrhea & vomiting (2 or more times in a 24 hour period.)
Bringing a child to school with any of the above symptoms puts other children and staff at risk of getting sick. If all parents keep their sick children home, we will have stronger, healthier & happier students who are ready to learn. Don’t forget to wash hands frequently & practice good respiratory etiquette.
“Preparing for H1N1 Swine Influenza” to be broadcast on August 31, 2009, from 3–5 p.m. The broadcast as well as other information regarding the state policy from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Department of Health are located at this website: http://www.k12.wa.us/HealthServices/H1N1Flu.aspx.
After school expectations reminder: All students must be in a supervised activity after school. If students are not in tutorial, homework club or a sports activity, they need to sign in and wait in Club Bellevue for parent pick-up or the Activity Bus. We do not allow students to wait outside after the 2:35 tutorial bell.

Additional Ways to Help Tillicum
Here are some easy easy easy ways to contribute to Tillicum. A few minutes of set-up time can provide funds for Tillicum effortlessly for years to come.
1) eScrip
Through this program, you can register your Safeway Club Card (your shoppers card, Not a credit card) on the eScrip website, and the school earns a portion of your purchases.
Here's How eScrip Works:
Go to www.eScrip.com and register your existing Safeway Club Card for use in the program.
Each time you use your Safeway Club Card at checkout, Safeway will automatically give a percentage of that day's purchases to Tillicum.
These purchases are tracked with reports available to you online, allowing you to see just how much you are earning on your child's behalf. If you think you are already signed up, please verify that everything is working by going to the website.
2) Albertsons Community Partners Program
Albertsons also has a program that links their Preferred Savings Card to their Community Partners Program, so you can earn money every time you shop at Albertsons too!
Go to http://www.albertsons.com/cp/, and register your Preferred Savings Card. You will need both your card number and your phone number to do this. Then, select Tillicum as your community partner. That’s it! Tillicum will benefit every time you shop!
The teachers and staff are looking for a few items that we thought some of you might be willing to donate. Please look these over and help out where you can.
Prizes – The reading lab is in need of prizes to motivate kids. If you have a stock of old promo items, desktop gadgets, gift cards, etc, consider donating them to the reading lab.
Video cameras – Mr. Kentala is looking for a few ‘newer’ digital video cameras. First we needed to spruce up his overalls now we need to spruce up his video cameras!! If you have upgraded or plan on updating your camera this Holiday Season please think about donating the old one (if it’s digital and in good shape) to the school. Please contact Mr. Kentala for details.
Calculators – The Math department is looking for new or gently used TI-83 or TI-84 calculators. The PTA bought them 5 but they need a total of 45 to replace the very old and continuously breaking ones they have now! If you see one on sale or just have the urge to give the Math department a gift please do! Contact Mr. Mackie for details.
Folding machine – The office is looking for a folding machine. The one they are looking at is about $250.00. It would save them hours and hours of time. If you would like to donate one or know how to get a good deal on one please contact Barb Ghaffari in the office.
Qwest’s 1% Back to Schools Program - Qwest has begun a unique and innovative program that will mean additional funding for our schools! It’s called the Qwest “1% Back to Schools” program, and it’s an easy way for Qwest customers to help make a positive difference in education. Simply put – when Qwest’s residential customers sign up for Paperless BillingandAutoPay Electronic Funds Transfer, they can direct an amount equivalent to one percent of their monthly bill to any school district within Qwest’s 14-state residential-service territory. All a customer has to do is go to qwest.com/onepercent to enroll. It’s that simple!
Box Tops - Don't throw them away!
Don’t forget to cut out those Box Tops and send them in!! Yes, we are still collecting Box Tops.
Save your box tops for the up and coming Honor Society sponsored box top contest!!.
