Support great schools while shopping online!

It’s easy to raise money for our schools when you shop at Amazon.  Just go to BSF’s website, www.bsfdn.orgRemember, you must go to www.bsfdn.org first to support Bellevue students.  Just click on the Amazon logo on the left side, and start shopping!, and click the Amazon link.  BSF will receive over 7% of each sale – at no additional cost to you!

A note from our school nurse:  Deciding when a child is too sick to go to school can be a difficult decision. Use these guidelines to help you:
Go to school:  sniffles, runny nose, mild cough without fever.
Stay at home:  temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.  (students must be fever-free for             24 hours before return to school.)   Sore throat, especially with fever or swollen glands.  Diarrhea &             vomiting (2 or more times in a 24 hour period.)
Bringing a child to school with any of the above symptoms puts other children and staff at risk of getting sick.  If all parents keep their sick children home, we will have stronger, healthier & happier students who are ready to learn.  Don’t forget to wash hands frequently & practice good respiratory etiquette.

After school expectations reminder:  All students must be in a supervised activity after school.  If students are not in tutorial, homework club or a sports activity, they need to sign in and wait in Club Bellevue for parent pick-up or the Activity Bus.  We do not allow students to wait outside after the 2:35 tutorial bell.

Textbook fines will be mailed out with grades shortly after the end of first semester.  We’d like to remind you that all fines must be brought current by the end of the school year.  However, we would rather have the textbook, so please encourage your student to look for & return any missing books.

Bellevue School District has revised the calendar for this school year, due to snow closures Dec. 17-23. Emergency make-up days have been added to the end of the year, making our last day Thursday, June 25 and extending our first quarter to Friday, Feb. 6. A link to the complete revised calendar is on the reverse of this newsletter and available also at Tillicum’s website: http://schools.bsd405.org/tillicum/

Fundraising

The teachers and staff are looking for a few items that we thought some of you might be willing to donate.  Please look these over and help out where you can.

Video cameras – Mr. Kentala is looking for a few ‘newer’ digital video cameras.   First we needed to spruce up his overalls now we need to spruce up his video cameras!!  If you have upgraded or plan on updating your camera this Holiday Season please think about donating the old one (if it’s digital and in good shape) to the school.  Please contact Mr. Kentala for details.

Calculators – The Math department is looking for new or gently used TI-83 or TI-84 calculators.  The PTA bought them 5 but they need a total of 45 to replace the very old and continuously breaking ones they have now!  If you see one on sale or just have the urge to give the Math department a gift please do!  Contact Mr. Mackie for details.

Folding machine – The office is looking for a folding machine.  The one they are looking at is about $250.00.  It would save them hours and hours of time.  If you would like to donate one or know how to get a good deal on one please contact Barb Ghaffari in the office.

Chinook Book - Congratulations to Mr. Pelto’s 1st Period class for selling the most Chinook Books.  They all enjoyed Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  We still have a few Chinoook Books for sale in the office.  They are $20 and have hundreds of dollars worth of savings around the area.  Help support the ASB and PTSA. Available by contacting Annie Peterson at Annie.Peterson@comcast.net  Check out the Chinook Book on line at http://www.ecometro.com/seattle/coupon-book.aspx.

Qwest’s 1% Back to Schools Program - Qwest has begun a unique and innovative program that will mean additional funding for our schools!  It’s called the Qwest “1% Back to Schools” program, and it’s an easy way for Qwest customers to help make a positive difference in education.  Simply put – when Qwest’s residential customers sign up for Paperless BillingandAutoPay Electronic Funds Transfer, they can direct an amount equivalent to one percent of their monthly bill to any school district within Qwest’s 14-state residential-service territory.  All a customer has to do is go to qwest.com/onepercent to enroll.  It’s that simple!

Box Tops - Don't throw them away!

Don’t forget to cut out those Box Tops and send them in!!   Yes, we are still collecting Box Tops.

Save your box tops for the up and coming Honor Society sponsored box top contest!!.

Reminders

Winter weather: as we head into the stormy season in the Northwest, the possibility of school closure or a delayed start increases. We encourage you to keep abreast of the most current information by tuning in to local TV and radio stations. The school district Emergency Communications Bulletin is printed on the reverse of this newsletter, with specific information about how to find out if school is closed or delayed. Please call the school district news line directly: 425-456-4111 for up-to-date information.

Homework questions: if your student has been absent for 3 or more days, we will be happy to send a request for homework to all teachers. There is a homework pick-up box in the main office. If your student is absent for 1 or 2 days, we suggest you check teacher websites to keep up with assignments: https://grades.bsd405.org/PIV/
